Dear Colleagues,

I am very happy to share with you that our national search for a Director of Admission has resulted in our appointment of James Miller to that role effective June 30, 2014. James comes to us from the University of San Francisco where he currently serves as the Director of Admission Operations & Applicant Services.

We had a strong and talented applicant pool, and while each of our candidates had different strengths to offer us, James' passion for Puget Sound's distinctive educational environment and his experience with student systems, data management, and analytics, combined with his collaborative spirit, team orientation, and commitment to access stood out as key qualities critical to leading our admission efforts at this time. James began his admission career at his alma mater, Oregon State University, where he held a series of progressively responsible positions over the course of five years before moving to his current role at University of San Francisco where he serves as a key member of the enrollment leadership team. In addition to his leadership on the campuses where he has worked, James has also been actively involved with the admission profession on the national scene, most notably with the Association for Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers (AACRAO) and was recently elected to that organization’s Nominations and Elections Committee. James earned his B.A. in Economics and Psychology from Oregon State University.

I am excited to welcome James to our enrollment team this summer and am very grateful to my campus colleagues who were so generous with their time and thoughtful participation in the interview process.
