Dr. John Baworowsky brings more than 30 years’ experience to Marquette
Dr. John Baworowsky has been named vice provost for enrollment management, Provost Daniel Myers announced today. Baworowsky brings more than 30 years of experience in enrollment management, student affairs, public relations and financial aid, having served in vice president roles at higher education institutions in the United States and overseas.
Baworowsky is the university’s first vice provost for enrollment management, a new position that Provost Myers says is critical to Marquette’s overall enrollment strategy and one that will be responsible for delivering on the enrollment-based objectives in Beyond Boundaries, the university’s strategic plan.
“We’re so pleased to have Dr. Baworowsky bring his wealth of experience and expertise to Marquette,” Provost Myers says. “Having worked at a variety of institutions, including fellow Jesuit universities, he brings a broad perspective and a stellar track record in building successful enrollment programs.”
“I am excited about the opportunity to join the Marquette community,” Baworowsky says. “I have had such profoundly rich experiences in Jesuit education, and my family has a long history in Wisconsin. I am looking forward to getting involved in Marquette and bringing enrollment management best practices to the new vice provost position.”
Currently, Baworowsky is the vice president for enrollment management and student success at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he leads recruitment and retention efforts. He also serves as a senior associate consultant for Ruffalo Noel Levitz, the largest higher education consulting firm in the U.S. Prior to that, he served in enrollment leadership roles at Dominican University of California, The American College of Greece in Athens and Saint Louis University.
A columnist for The Chronicle of Higher Education, Baworowsky is also a noted national speaker on the topics of strategic communications, international students and financial aid.
His association with Jesuit institutions includes a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University of Chicago and a doctorate from Saint Louis University. His wife, Dr. Kathleen Cross, earned her bachelor’s and doctorate at Saint Louis University, and all three of his children are graduates of Loyola Academy in Chicago.
Baworowsky, who officially begins his new role on July 1, will be involved in the search for the next dean of undergraduate admissions.
The offices of Undergraduate Admissions, the Registrar and Financial Aid will report to Baworowsky, and he will also work closely with the Graduate School, colleges and professional schools.
